About the root chakra - Free Essay Example

The Chakra that I will be reflecting about is the root chakra. The element connected to this chakra is the Earth. The root chakra physical location is at the base of the spin. The primary color associated with this chakra is the color red. It is symbolized by a lotus with four petals and the color red. The organs associated with this chakra are the Skeleton, Blood, Foot, Vertebral column, Tooth, Bone, and leg. The primary functions of this chakra are its health and proper functions for living a balanced and fulfilling life. Three postures associated with this chakra are apanasana, mountain pose, and lastly, childs pose. Apanasana pose benefits Relief from excess digestive air, indigestion, bloating, and constipation. It is used as a soothing counter-pose to backbends and spinal twists. Mountain pose is beneficial because like a tree, we can feel the earth beneath us supporting and providing the nutrition we need. Mountain pose allows us to feel centered and focused in the present moment. Doing this on grass really helps us get a better connection to earth feeling grounded and safe. Lastly, childs pose helps us in the root chakra because Childs Pose helps to stretch the hips, thighs, and ankles while reducing stress. It gently relaxes the muscles on the front of the body while softly stretching the muscles of the back torso. This Root Chakra resonates with me because I think the color really sticks out to me and really keeps me safe and grounded. When I am in practice and am doing some poses like mountain pose, savasana, etc.. I truly feel like I am grounded and am supported when doing these poses. Being associated with the color red, the root chakra regulates the energy associated with instinct, s urvival, and safety. In this chakra, I want to feel safe and grounded and within my experience of taking yoga I have felt being safe and grounded with the earth. Some imbalances I might be noticing in my life are lack of energy, lower back pain, impatience, and insecurity. What I can do to help myself put me into my balance are to connect with the earth, Trusting myself and letting go of fear, Disconnect from materialistic needs and really connect with your inner self, go take a walk in nature and just connect with yourself and no one else. This chakra is all about basic needs like feeling safe, supported and provided for. The lesson of the Root Chakra is to have the willpower to break free from emotional bondage that holds you back. If you are unable to find personal freedom, youll end up carrying a lot of emotional baggage with you into your careers and future relationships. So let go, and be free.
